Manual Wheelchair Assist Devices

Pediatric positioning and mobility equipment is our specialty and our passion.

One of the most important ways we can help our children enjoy happy healthy lives is to afford them the opportunity to move at the earliest possible age. At Walking and Wheeling, we provide optimum adaptive equipment to get your child moving.

We want your child to receive the most effective adaptive equipment to get them moving on their own. We will help your child acquire the very best equipment suited for their unique needs, by providing an evaluation by a physical therapist who specializes in adaptive equipment. We also offer training to get the most functional use out of the equipment.

One Arm Drive

A one arm drive is just one of many options that can be customized on a manual wheelchair to allow a child with hemiparesis (use of only one side of the body) to be successful with independent movement. This addition allows the child to control movement with a double rim system on a single side of the wheelchair.

Smart Drive by Max Mobility is a power add on that can be attached to most manual wheelchairs. The wristband allows the user to start, stop, and control the speed for improved ease of mobility when out in the community. It gives the user power assistance to maintain or increase speed to keep up with friends, go up inclines, or maneuver in terrain that is otherwise difficult to propel.
