Custom Orthotics

Quality orthotics help support your child's mobility.

Orthotics are supportive devices used for any body part to align a joint, assist with weak muscles, and control movements which are excessive. A well designed orthotic should both stabilize and encourage better mobility. This allows your child to participate in a wider range of experiences, and have more success in their activities. Ultimately, the goal for your child is to achieve more independence in their life, and for your child to have more control over their life.

Orthotics can facilitate greater range of motion, improve balance and coordination, prevent or correct deformity and improve function.

Head and Neck Supports

Head/Neck supports come in many different styles and sizes depending on what type of support is needed. Neck supports can be used to give greater stability to the child allowing them to have better positioning and comfort, while still allowing the child to strengthen their neck muscles and turn their heads to visually engage with their environment. Head supports range from full protective helmets to low profile, halo styled protective wear. We will evaluate, measure, and fit the most appropriate Head/Neck support to assist in keeping your child safe and comfortable.

Spine Orthotics

The spine is essential for communication between the upper and lower body. Without good stability of the core, good posture and quality upper extremity control is difficult. There are a variety of beneficial orthotics available to provide stability to the core. These include TLSOs, SDOs, and lumbar-sacral belts. These orthotics not only provide stability but also facilitate muscle activity and coordination. Your child’s muscle strength will increase the more he/she wears it. We will evaluate, measure, and fit the most appropriate spine/trunk support to assist your child.

Elbow Supports

These orthotics range from elbow immobilizers to elbow braces for flexion and/or extension of the elbow joint. They are used when a child has muscle weakness, decreased range of motion, abnormal muscle tone and/or child lacks control of the muscles around the elbow joint. We will evaluate, measure, and fit the most appropriate elbow support to assist your child in his/her need.
